Babysitting Skills Course
Krunch South West runs a successful two day Babysitting Skills Course at certain points throughout the year, often subsidised by local grant-giving organisations.
This fantastic opportunity for local young people to gain some valuable skills that will equip them with the confidence and ability to become a responsible babysitter. * The course is open to boys and girls aged 14 and above, and aims to prepare them to look after children and babies in a safe and responsible way.
The course covers many aspects of babysitting, such as communicating with parents/carers; play skills; safety; first aid; the practical side of caring for a baby/child; and advertising our new babysitting skills. Much of the course material will be drawn from the British Red Cross ‘Looking After Other People’s Children’ course.
It is a fun and interactive course, with lots of practical hands-on experiences, including caring for some interactive babies bought along by the Willow Tree Centre and the opportunity to interact and play with a group of children under 5 years old, in a morning of fun and laughter.
There will be some further work to do at home after the training days, which will need to be completed within a set deadline in order to successfully pass the course and receive a Certificate in Babysitting Skills.
Here’s what some of our previous participants have had to say about the course:
“Thank you ever so much for the course. I really have learnt a lot, and because I’ve done the course I put it on Facebook and I’ve had 3 new families ask me to babysit which is now a regular thing! Thank you again for the experience!”
“I loved this course, and I learnt a lot. Thank you!”
“This course was a great experience and has definitely made me more confident. I have gained some vital life skills.”
“I wanted to feed back to you that Julie really enjoyed this course and came back from the sessions enthusiastic about what she had learnt. She particularly enjoyed the chance to play with the children. You’ll be glad to hear that she has been putting the work to good use and has another babysitting booking for next week!”
The cost for this course is usually £55 per participant, but thanks to funding from the Thornbury Lions, Krunch South West is able to offer this course at the subsided rate of only £25 per person.
Places are limited and will be offered on a ‘first come first served’ basis. We have been oversubscribed on previous courses so would recommend booking early if you would like to come along!

(* Please note that participation in this course does not guarantee any participant work as a babysitter and Krunch are not involved in setting up young people to work as babysitters or finding them work in this area.)
