We started our work in Thornbury and the surrounding areas in 2013, kicking off with two youth clubs a week!

Over 500 people attended Summer Fest on 19th August – a fun family event and skate competition organised by local youth charity Krunch South West to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The worrying morning rain cleared away to reveal blue skies perfect for the summer vibes!

The event included inflatables, a climbing wall, face painting, glitter tattoos, music, circus skills, graffiti, as well as a BBQ and local stall holders. Jigsaw provided a chill out area, featuring therapy dog Albus. Thornbury Mayor James Murray was in attendance with his young family enjoying all the activities, as well as presenting the prizes to the skate competition winners.

The skate competition, hosted by King Ramps, included participants from age 5 to 25, with categories in skateboarding, scooters and BMX. Spectators were treated to some mesmerising demonstrations, not only from the competition participants, but also from pro-riders Jordan Thackery and Sox, who were also on hand to give training tips to the local skaters. Jordan is one of the UK’s top pro skaters who has been part of Team GB in recent years.

Penny Baker, Krunch South West Manager, said ‘We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 10 years working with young people in Thornbury and the surrounding area than to throw a big summer party for the whole community! It was fantastic turn out of all ages, and everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who came along and to all the contributors to the event. Here’s to another ten years!’
