Detached and Outreach
Our detached and outreach youth work takes place in the community, meeting young people where they are – whether in parks, town centres or local estates.
By being present in their own spaces, we build trust, offer support and connect them to wider opportunities. Detached sessions are flexible and responsive, ensuring young people feel heard, valued and included. Outreach sessions can guide young people to a safe space where they can access hot drinks, food and positive activities. These sessions are often commissioned by local town and parish councils, as well as the Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP).
We have regular use of the South Gloucestershire youth bus - affectionately named DORIS! (It stands for Delivery Of Rural Inclusion and Support). Brightly decorated with artwork designed by young people, the bus is equipped with Wi-Fi, a TV, sound system and kitchen facilities, making it a safe and welcoming hub wherever it goes. We have a team of youth workers regularly out in Thornbury and also work with partner organisations to bring detached sessions to other areas.
