Real Respect
Real Respect is a research-backed programme that helps children and young people learn what healthy, safe and respectful relationships look and feel like.
We explore topics like our rights, the law, and consent – helping young people understand how to make positive choices and treat others with kindness and respect.
By the end of the programme, participants feel more confident about how to interact with others in ways that are friendly, safe and enjoyable. They’ll be able to recognise what’s acceptable, understand when behaviour might not be okay, and know who they can turn to for help or support.
We know how important it is to start these conversations early. Research shows that children are often exposed to harmful or confusing messages online at younger ages. That’s why Real Respect provides clear, trauma-informed learning that’s fully mapped to the RSE National Curriculum, with safeguarding and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
Our trained facilitators create a safe, inclusive space where every young person’s voice is valued: no question asked within the parameters of the group rules is off limits. Answers from our facilitators are carefully given in an appropriate manner. Pupils are encouraged to be honest, share ideas, and explore what respect really means – all within a supportive, well-managed environment.
We have developed Real Respect to suit small groups of up to eight children or young people. It can be delivered on site at places of education. We have a range of materials appropriate for different ages/levels of understanding, meaning we can deliver the programme to primary pupils in year 5 or 6, and with teenagers.
